Then the calculator sneezes, a 7 falls out, and everyone pretends this ruler made of soup can still measure inches.

The review's central evidence pile is hilarious because it reads like a prosecution brief that accidentally recommends probation. We get 'universally bland' side quests, characters who vanish after their one chapter like interns escaping a mandatory team-building labyrinth, and mysteries the reviewer says they solved halfway through. At that point, calling it 'Good' is less criticism than numerical witness protection. The score is wearing sunglasses and a fake mustache at the airport.

This is GameSpot's house style at its most arithmetic-criminal: identify the exact structural problems, describe them clearly, then cushion the final number like a toddler-proof coffee table. A 7 here does not mean 'good' so much as 'we found enough nouns we liked to avoid making anyone upset.' It is a salad spinner full of caveats, and somehow the dressing comes out as approval.

To be fair, the review is readable and specific, which already puts it above the average embargo fog machine. But specificity makes the score more suspicious, not less.
